This course is a survey designed to give students an overview of the New Testament. The course presents basic information and seeks to guide students in activities that give a solid understanding of each New Testament book. Students are encouraged to apply Scripture to life situations and to share their faith. Students attend chapel once a week; worship is led by the student Ministry Team. Students have opportunities to hear special speakers, view relevant video materials, perform skits, puppet presentations, etc.

A challenge for those who are bored with the Christian status quo. This book teaches Christians how to walk out an authentic faith that addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical, solutions. It shows that by surrendering yourself totally to God's purposes, He will bring you the most pleasure in this life and the next.

The focus of this upper-level high school course is the basic doctrines of the Bible: God, the Bible, man, sin, salvation, Christ, the Holy Spirit, Christian life, the church, angels, Satan, future events, hell. and Heaven. There is strong emphasis on the application of truths to daily lives.

Worldviews

Worldviews is designed for juniors and seniors. The Biblical Christian worldview is presented in contrast to the humanist worldviews of Secular Humanism, Marxism/Leninism, and Cosmic Humanism. The course surveys ten essential areas of study: theology, philosophy, ethics, biology, psychology, sociology, law, politics, economics, economics, and history. The intent of the course is to lay a foundation of understanding that provides a basis for the student’s own personal worldview. Students are taught to use critical thinking skills while examining these worldviews. As a result, students should be better equipped to penetrate and influence culture with Biblical truth.

Co-enrollment Courses

CCS was the first school in Orange county to offer co-enrollment classes in conjunction with Lamar State College, Orange. English is offered to seniors, allowing them to earn 6 hours of college credit. Pre-calculus is offered in the spring to qualifying students; students earn 3 hours of college credit. Calculus is offered to qualifying students, allowing them to earn 6 hours of college credit. Students also have the opportunity to take English, Physics, Biology 2, and Calculus as Advanced Placement (AP) courses, earning four AP credits.

Algebra 1 presents mathematics as a study of absolutes with a logical approach from one concept to another. Concepts are developed and mastered through an abundance of worked examples and student exercises. Many application problems relate algebra to the physical world.

Algebra 2 is usually taught as a sequel to Algebra 1. However, it can be taught as a sequel to geometry. Algebra 2 helps students discover the logic, order, beauty, and practicality of algebra. Students are encouraged to use their reasoning ability as they work with the axioms, rules, and principles of algebra. Concepts are developed and mastered through an abundance of worked examples and exercises, with an emphasis on word problems that relate to the physical world.

Geometry is the branch of mathematics which investigates the relations, properties, and measurement of solids, surfaces, lines, and angles; the science which treats of the properties and relations of magnitudes; the science of the relations of space. Geometry acquaints students with the fundamental tools in an interesting way. Students are taught to think naturally, logically. and systematically.

College Algebra is a first semester, dual enrollment class that is taken through Lamar College Orange; students can earn 1/2 credit. The course is for students who need algebra for additional math courses or related courses and for students who need it to fulfill basic college requirements. Because the course is for college credit, the textbook is selected by Lamar. This particular textbook presents material in a user-friendly way.

Biology is usually taught at the 10^th grade level. What is biology? Simply put, it is the study of life - life in all of its grandeur. From the very small algae to the very large elephant, life has a certain wonder about it. Biology examines the structure, function, growth, origin, evolution, and distribution of living things. It classifies and describes organisms, their functions, how species came into existence, and the interactions they have with each other and with the natural environment. Students are encouraged to participate in a school-wide science fair. Projects are mandatory for 8th and 10th grades.

This course is usually taught in 10^th grade. History is taught with the conviction that God is the Creator of the world and the Controller of history. This course builds a solid foundation of ancient history, tracing man's history back to the Garden of Eden. It includes a presentation of neglected Asian and African cultures in a unique ancient-to-modern style, helping the students to recognize other peoples and cultures. An in-depth study of the Greco-Roman culture lays the groundwork for medieval history. The last section brings the student to the very doorstep of current history and vividly depicts world events in light of God's master plan. Since man's actions are a product of his thoughts, the history of ideas is emphasized, rather than only political events and economic conditions. Students are given a Christian perspective on language, chronology, "prehistoric times," art, music, revolutionism, evolutionism, socialism, Communism, humanism, liberalism, and much more.

U.S. History

Taught to upper-level high school students, this positive, patriotic approach to American history brings to life events and personalities that have shaped America and places a special emphasis on America's Christian past. Heritage of Freedom rejects the conflict approach of Marxist historians to give a narrative account of what has made our country great and what can keep it great. A study of the history of ideas allows each student to see why our nation went in the direction it did in the twentieth century and what can be done to save it.

Taught to upper high school students, economics is a one semester course. Emphasis is placed on free enterprise capitalism in a free market economy. The Biblical views of work, wealth, and stewardship are emphasized, helping students to understand the proper economic roles of individual producers and consumers as well as that of the government from a conservative, Christian perspective. The stark contrast between the market economy, the cornerstone of prosperity in the United States, and the command economy, the hallmark of fiscal failure in Communist countries, is graphically presented in illustration of the economic principles that govern all societies. Essential concepts such as competition in the marketplace and private ownership of capital are discussed from a conservative perspective.

Taught to upper high school students, government is a one semester course. The course begins with an inspiring look at the blessings we enjoy and the symbols we hold dear as American citizens.
