COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
DISCIPLINE -  PRESCHOOL 2011-2012

A signed statement by the parents that they have read and support the discipline policy must be received as a prerequisite to final acceptance and enrollment of each child.

Good discipline means that the classroom is relatively free from confusion, disorder, and anti-social behavior.  It means that each child and the classroom as a whole operate freely within a structural framework.  Discipline is more than external pressure.  It involves personal responsibility on the part of both student and teacher.

Community Christian School seeks to cooperate with parents to develop the following characteristics in their children:

  1. Cheerful obedience to all in authority.
  2. Cleanliness and neatness in dress and appearance.
  3. Cooperation with others inside and outside the classrooms.
  4. Courtesy and respect for others:  being quiet in class at appropriate times, raising hands to speak, not interrupting others, walking--not running in the building, and eating with proper manners, etc.
  5. Appropriate conduct in respect to recreation, social relationships, and language.
  6. Respect for the property of others and of Community Christian School.
  7. Responsibility in completing tasks as maturity dictates.

DISCIPLINARY ACTION

True discipline results from self-discipline rather than external regulation or controls.
Community Christian School is based upon Biblical principles and strives to be both firm and
fair. It is expected that good behavior will be the norm and discipline problems the exception.

Anytime you need to discuss a situation with the teacher, you must schedule an appointment with the teacher when she is not in charge of students.

If your child comes home complaining about a policy or discipline, please follow these procedures:

  1. Give the teacher the benefit of the doubt.
  2. Realize that a child will report from an emotionally biased                                                 viewpoint.  All the facts may not be presented.
  3. Realize that the school has reasons for rules, and they are                                                 enforced without favor.
  4. Support the school and call us for all the facts.

When a problem arises with a student, the following procedures will be used:

  1. The teacher will try to handle the problem privately with the student - not in front of the class.
  2. If the teacher is unsuccessful in correcting the child’s behavior, she will enlist the help of the parents.
  3. Should unacceptable behavior continue, the teacher will enlist the help of an administrator.
  4. If there is no successful resolution of the problem, a conference will be held with the teacher, student, and administrator and parents.
  5. Extreme cases may result in termination or suspension from the school. This action will not be taken until every effort has been made to  alleviate the problem.

Please note:  Situations may occur that are not covered in the handbook.  The administration will handle these at their discretion.
